All members will treat other members with respect and dignity and anyone who does not do so will be removed from the group.
If there is an event you have been wanting to do, be bold and post the event to the group. Post brief event details and potential date. See if others are interested and work with them to finalize the event details and date. Rescheduling events for another day/month/year based on other member's input is A-OK.
People who solicit for events, products, or services that are not related to the groups goals will be removed from the group.
If you have an issue with any member in the group take it up with the member themselves or report it to Facebook. Facebook has policies for members and we don't intend on replicating them.
Do not discuss sex, religion and politics on the Facebook group. People doing so will be removed from the group.
Members can be "organizers" and post up to 3 events a week and 3 event followup posts in order to post pictures. Members, who don't organize, should only reply to organizer's event posts. No general posts requesting information on dog sitters, best type of shoe, best time of year to visit Timbuktu, etc, are allowed on the group's Facebook page and you should post that type of query on your own personal page.
We suggest people abstain from going on solo hikes as every year search and rescue is called into action due to many unfortunate events. That being said if you post your solo event to the group there will most likely be many people who know where you are going and potentially help out if something unexpected happens.
Do your due diligence before you attend an event. We will not be policing people who organize events. Organizers are your peers looking for people to join them on an event. They are not leaders or guides who are responsible for your safety. If you require more than a peer to join you for an event you can hire guides for hundreds of dollars or go to events with other groups that have designated leaders.
Responsibility to others on your adventure starts with taking responsibility for yourself. There are plenty of resources to help you figure out what’s appropriate. We encourage members to bring: Headlamp with spare battery, basic first aid kit, navigation tools such as phone apps, extra warm/dry layers, food & hydration. While personal protection equipment such as helmets are not required, please remember that if you get hurt, you immediately become everyone else’s problem.
